China Supplies Data To WHO About Clusters of Respiratory Illness (theguardian.com) 65

Chinese health authorities have provided the requested data on an increase in respiratory illnesses and reported clusters of pneumonia in children, and have not detected any unusual or novel pathogens, the World Health Organization (WHO) said. From a report: The WHO had asked China for more information on Wednesday after groups including the Program for Monitoring Emerging Diseases reported clusters of undiagnosed pneumonia in children in north China. As per the rule, China responded to the WHO within 24 hours. The WHO had sought epidemiologic and clinical information as well as laboratory results through the International Health Regulations mechanism.

Epidemiologists have warned that as, China heads into its first winter since the lifting of zero-Covid restrictions, natural levels of immunity to respiratory viruses may be lower than normal, leading to an increase in infections. Several countries, including the US and the UK, experienced large waves of respiratory viral infections in the first winter after Covid restrictions were lifted as people had lower natural levels of immunity. For young children, lockdowns delayed the age at which they were first exposed to common bugs.

Research consistently has shown that Covid causes long-term damage to the immune system, including reduced T cells and immune system genetic expression. We should be expecting known viral illnesses to be statistically more severe in those who have previously had Covid. Remember those clusters of unexplained pediatric hepatitis?
    • The elephant in the room is that the CDC has admitted there are no double-blind placebo-controlled trials demonstrating efficacy of -any- vaccine, and no official vax versus unvaxxed studies. Even though the capability exists to perform these trials, the CDC denies this is possible. Instead, the trials are performed on the comparative basis of vaccine vs vaccine, not vaccine vs. no vaccine.

But more than 100 official papers do exist and they do not support government assertions. Vaccinated children suffer
    • Exactly. Also, immunologists say the whole immunity debt is a myth. Sweden had no lockdowns, yet they have now had two consecutive years of lots of respiratory diseases (in addition to C19, which is not a respiratory illness). There have been also lots of other outbreaks of diseases that didn't use to spread. Measles going rampant in russia, monkeypox in many countries, polio in the UK, ... The pattern is pretty clear, you first get a bad year of COVID and then you get a bad year of other diseases. The othe

China is 17% of the world's population. More than Europe and the North America combined. It's inevitable that stuff will come out of China.

What really surprises me is that, after all the bullshit, they are still working with the WHO. Given all the stuff about the origin of COVID, and demands for the WHO to "properly investigate", it's too their credit that they keep on good terms. Blame only ensures that next time wherever it starts tries to cover it up.

      • Ground zero in a pandemic that shut down the world for months was a few blocks from a bioweapons lab in a viciously nihilistic totalitarian empire, but it's a totally outlandish idea to look into that? Most investigations find it credible but the evidence soft. That's a far cry from "bullshit."

Over the course of the last 3 weeks, soccer attendance dropped from 24 kids to 3-4 kids.

  • Had the same problem here post-lockdowns.

    • Sweden had no lockdowns, but had the same problem with RSV. It's not immunity debt, it is immune system damaged by COVID-19. There's a lot of research on this (just search for T-cell exhaustion after COVID-19). Who knew, getting sick isn't making people healthier.
