Facebook owner Meta said on Wednesday it had uncovered malware purveyors leveraging public interest in ChatGPT to lure users into downloading malicious apps and browser extensions, likening the phenomenon to cryptocurrency scams. From a report: Since March, the social media giant has found around 10 malware families and more than 1,000 malicious links that were promoted as tools featuring the popular artificial intelligence-powered chatbot, it said in a report. In some cases, the malware delivered working ChatGPT functionality alongside abusive files, the company said. Speaking at a press briefing on the report, Meta Chief Information Security Officer Guy Rosen said that for bad actors, "ChatGPT is the new crypto."

I just came across this article on Meta’s blog that claims ChatGPT, the popular chatbot app powered by OpenAI’s GPT-3, is actually malware that steals users’ personal data and sends it to malicious third parties. The article also says that Meta has detected and blocked ChatGPT on its platforms and urges users to uninstall it immediately.

Just wait till we have AI that's trying to fight AI. Some of the ride share apps are already having issues with this. AI that generates driver's licenses complete with PDF417 barcode on the back versus the AI that's trying to detect AI generated driver's licenses. Imagine an Amazon facing customer service AI that's being manipulated by thousands of AIs trying to convince the Amazon AI to do a return on fake things. Or HR AI that's reading AI generated resumes to generate hiring meetings for non-existent
