Microsoft has announced that it is pausing the rollout of Edge v81, citing the ongoing "global circumstances" surrounding the coronavirus outbreak. From a report: New Edge releases (or any other kind of software updates) usually entail security reviews and compatibility testing to ensure operating systems and internal web applications don't break. Due to the COVID-19 coronavirus outbreak, most system administrators are most likely busy handling the security of employees working from home and taking care of their families in these tough times. Microsoft said it does not want to put an extra strain on system administrators and other IT staff personnel by releasing a new Edge version at this particular time. Redmond's decision comes days after Google announced a similar measure for Chrome v81, postponing the v81 release indefinitely.

Being that they are both based on the same engine. I think Microsoft Pause was because they couldn't update with google's latest code.

If Microsoft really was worried about the strain put on IT Admins and support staff they would actually do some QA and try to keep their Office 365 offerings and Teams from being an ongoing dumpster fire. They are shoving this down everyone's throats, marketing directly to end users, then dumping the whole unstable mess in our laps and generating a ton of work and ill-will towards IT.

If you have a social twitpic app that has managed to achieve buzz, or something along those lines, sure, you probably need to iterate like hell is chasing you; because the moment people lose interest or Facebook clones your product you die. That makes an absolutely reckless pace a fairly obvious choice.

There is absolutely nothing that Microsoft could do to encourage me to use their Edge browser, so what they do is irrelevant. All it means is that I don't have to write the couple of lines of code that prohibits that shit from executing, however, it will still be prohibited. And nothing will change that.

You are right. I am the only person on the whole planet who is concerned with the abysmal lack of Safety, Security and Privacy in *anything* and *everything* emitted from Microsoft, and that NO ONE ELSE on the entire planet will refuse to have anything to do with the Microsoft Edge Spyware and Malware Propagation System.
