Linux Servers Grew 36% in Canada in 2004

An anonymous reader writes "Linux adoption in Canada is growing, in both volume and acceptance. According to a recent survey by IDC Canada, the server market for Linux grew more than 36 per cent here in 2003-2004, beating the Windows server market's growth of about 27 per cent for the same year."

Not all totally about linux or not totally up to date , but it does show that in Burkina Faso that linux has made some impact , so i would expect that server use is up to some exten

Assuming that these stats actually mean something, and that they indicate a stronger growth of Linux in Canada as compared to the US, I wonder why that should be so? ( I think it's safe to assume I could pull up any number of numbers to "prove" what ever I want)

There's only a small difference in economic factors, education, and PHB behaviour. Maybe combined it's enough, and this data indicates a Linux 'tipping point'.

The keyword being "SURVEY". Any statistics based on surveys are debatable. You ask me how many linux box I have, I'll scream 20 just for the hell of it.

Considering that the two best Linux distros are Xandros and Libranet, It doez not surprize me that Linux is popular in the great white northland.

Really. x% growth from amount A can be more or less then y% growth from amount B. 10% growth from 100 totals at 110, 5% growth from 100000 totals at 105000. One is 10 pieces, the other is 5000, with less %.

Having said that, I'm happy to see more Linuxes adopted, at whatever pace. Whatever amount of raise is a Good Thing.
