What a load of crap. I am using Dell laptop which is close to 4 years old and still under warranty. It has better screen than any Mac laptop, 32GB of RAM, removable SSD, easy replaceable battery. It could be a bit heavier than a MacBook but that never was a problem for me. I use this machine for most of my work and it works perfectly for quite heavy workloads. It does not work well for looking cool in the coffee shop, but it was purchased to be a working machine not a status symbol. So windows machines can last as long as you need them to last. They may not be a collectable that I can resell in 4 years but they would be perfectly usable and not "worthless".
