+ - Mercedes-Benz to offer over-the-air car updates->

Submitted by

MrSeb writes "This is news, at least in the car world: automatic software updates. Mercedes-Benz cars with its Mbrace2 telematics system can be automatically updated via the cloud. Over-the-air (OTA) updates mean no more trips to the dealer for new software, not even the relatively painless Ford Sync USB-key-stuck-in-the-dash upgrades. It’s also one more reason automakers may want to embed telematics in even the cheapest of cars: the system could pay for itself. Mercedes says the first car to get Mbrace2 will be the Mercedes-Benz SL roadster, a spiffy two-seat convertible that starts at $105,000. Over the next year, Mbrace2 will be added across the entire line."
